Caveman (Paleolithic) Diet
The Caveman, or Paleolithic Diet, is a weight loss plan based on the principle that the 84 remaining tribes of hunter-gatherers on Earth have much better health than most modern people. They don’t get fat, they’re tall and their teeth are straight. The reason, according to proponents of the Paleolithic Diet, is their diet.
They have never introduced grains, beans, or potatoes into their diets—ingredients which contain natural toxins. These toxins accumulate in our bodies and cause all kinds of health problems ranging from digestive disorders to cancer. According to Ray Audette, author of the book Neanderthin, you should stick to the sort of foods that our caveman ancestors ate before the beginning of modern agriculture 10,000 years ago.
It’s a hunter-gatherer diet, one that lets you eat as much meat, chicken, fish, and eggs as you want. Eat fruits, vegetables, nuts (except peanuts, which come from the bean family), and berries. Dairy, grains, beans, and potatoes are on the prohibited list, along with refined sugar and salt. Many people lose weight with this diet. Some Caveman Diet practitioners insist on organic produce and meats, but many do not.
